You should also remember that the Board will be exercising its own discretion in considering your request for a commutation of sentence, and its decision will be based upon all of the facts made available. Having the recommendation of the trial officials is required, but by no means makes approval by the Board automatic. The Governor’s office will also exercise its own independent judgment in the final step of the process.
