Paige Massey, Attorney at Law

_Introduction

Paige Massey was born in 1954 and attended the University of Texas for both his undergraduate degree (BBA in Accounting – from 1972 to 1975) and his law degree (Doctor of Jurisprudence from 1975 to 1977). During this time, he worked in the Texas Legislature for the House of Representatives.

After spending a lifetime in Houston one year practicing tax law, Paige returned to Austin and the Texas Legislature. In 1981, Paige joined the staff of Governor Clements as assistant general counsel and was one of two attorneys who made parole and executive clemency decisions for Governor Clements. In 1983, Paige entered private practice and began representing in matters before the Board of Pardons and Paroles and matters involving TDC as well. An amendment to the Texas Constitution and enabling legislation passed by the Legislature removed the Governor from the parole approval/denial process, but remains in executive clemency matters, Since 1983, Paige has represented many inmates seeking parole, pardons, commutations of sentence, and medical reprieves, as well as fighting for inmates facing parole and mandatory supervision revocation. Paige has also pursued relief for his clients through writs of habeas corpus; correcting time credit issues with TDC, as well as having deadly weapon findings removed which had been improperly made. There are many complicated rules and laws surrounding everything involving post conviction remedies that we could easily get bogged down in the minute details of, I want the focus of my website to be what can possibly be done to help people end their stay at TDC, and return to the world to lead peaceful and productive lives.
